February 2, 2012
Dear Parents,
Some reminders:
PARP
PARP is about creating a positive reading environment, encouraging reading and developing a true love for reading! It is a statewide program designed to foster the love of reading in children by asking parents to set aside time daily to read with their children. During the month of February, read for 15 minutes each evening with your child and submit a PARP raffle ticket (January 20/Weekly Notices) at the end of the week. There will be a drawing at the end of the program so the more your child participates, the better the chance of winning.
Red, White & Blue Day
For the last several weeks we have been collecting various items to send to our troops overseas. This project will culminate on Friday, February 3rd with Red, White & Blue Day so everybody should come to school wearing these colors. We will also have a school-wide assembly where a Private First-Class from the United States Army and graduate of PVHS will speak with the students about his experiences and how appreciative the soldiers will be when they receive the items collected.
Yearbook
Help your child preserve the special moments of this school year by ordering a yearbook today! No matter how many years pass, your child will treasure the memories preserved in the Putnam Valley Elementary School Yearbook. Along with their portrait, there will be memories of classmates, friends, and staff involved in the many activities that make PVES special. Be sure your child receives this wonderful keepsake by sending your payment to the school by March 1, 2012.
This year’s yearbook is $18. After March 1st, the price will increase to $20.
Please check the calendar on our website frequently to stay abreast of the wonderful happenings at the elementary school.
Best,
Jamie
